An Inconvenient Truth

January 14th, 2007

An Inconvenient Truth DVDHave you seen the film? We watched it the other night, and although thought some of it was a bit exaggerated, decided that we need to stop whinging about the lack of snow and try and do something about it!

Would anyone be into a very short weekly fact, if it was interesting and actually useful, on how we can actively help save the snow?

Definately would be interested in the facts/ green tips. Would like you to express concerns about people leaving cigarette buts on the mountain, completely disrespectful to the natural beauty of the mountain. Here is a link to the website for the butt pouch a little pocket ashtray: http://www.buttsandgum.com/cigarettelitter/pocketashtray.shtml. I want to be able to ski in 30 yrs time.

Awareness has to be a good thing. Trouble is actually getting to the mountains by plane is (maybe) not helping global warming. Although that’s a big old can of worms whether we’re actually the ones causing it or just experiencing it.
Green tips/facts will help make everyone aware, not just of global warming but also the general excessive lives we now all lead, which seems like a good thing.

Flying may not help, but there are ways to help save our snow that you can do at home.
How about turning your thermostat down, buying fruit and vegetables that haven’t been air freighted across the world, reducing water consumption, driving less in efficient cars and slower or better still using trains and buses, fitting low energy lightbulbs, recycling bottles, plastics, cans and paper? The list is enormous rather than look for tips on here why not look up for information on the internet and find your own way of making a difference.
